MY PASSION FOR CUSTOM CARS AND CRAZE OVER AIRPLANES
Posted by: pathfinder in UncategorizedHi, guys – this is my first foray into the world of blogs, and boy, am I excited to write to share my thoughts.
Thoughts on what? Well, I’m crazy – crazy about the good-old, American Custom Cars, Classic Cars, Re-born Hot Rods, Restoration and Overhaul Programs on TV, and of course, my other passion, which is none other than airliners and aviation related programs and topics. Do you like planes? How about selected video-clips on aircraft accident investigation, re-animation based on Flight Data Recordings, the famous Crash of the Century (Tenerife), voice transcripts of ATC and pilot radio talk involving a near runway incursion, and more…?
I don’t know about you, but I’m yet to find a site that makes references to what most pilots and aviation enthusiasts love just as much, if not more i.e. fast fancy cars and bikes. I tell you, ever since I discovered this wonderful channel, each time I switch on the TV, it’s always that one particular channel that, invariably, draws my attention: Discovery’s Real Time. If you’re a fan of sleek custom and muscle cars, you must - absolutely must - check out this channel. I mean, take Chip Foose for example - ever heard of him? – he’s THE man! What a gifted guy he is; if only I was in the USA, just like many of ‘em over there, I would do anything to meet him; and just beg him to overhaul an old Mustang for me, sporting the unique foose design, foose rims, and I will have the singular pleasure of calling it one of only very few foose mustang around in the whole world – imagine that! Someday, man; someday, I’m gonna meet Mr. Foose himself, and convince him to re-build a Mustang for me – if there’s ANY car in this world that I’d rather drive than all the other modern marques, it’s none other than a foose mustang. Mr. Foose, if you’re reading this, you must know that I also admire you for your incredible ability to depict the paint scheme on paper; how the hell do you do that? And where did you learn to draw and colour like that? For the rest of my readers, you MUST see his work; you can do this either by visiting his site http://www.chipfoose.com/ or watching OVERHAUL on Discovery’s Real Time.
Any bike lovers out there? Again, on Discovery’s Real Time, a great program will be the American Chopper – if you’re into choppers, that is. Even if you weren’t, I mean, just watching the way the bike comes together, from scratch - much like the Foose’s show, and the likes of Boyd Coddington’s, Hard Shine, and others - with all the lovely, sleek paint-work and custom made rims, is, undoubtedly, absolutely, riveting for a junkie like me. Speaking of rims, everybody loves rims, right? These bikes and cars, I tell you, are absolutely brilliant with these magnificent wheels – aah, I love em’ to death….they’re just superb.
Okay, if you’ve read this far, I think it’s about time I tell you a bit about myself, eh? Um, been in the airline industry for nearly ten years now; I fly the Boeing 777, and with great pride I might add, especially the latest 777-300ERs. If this particular variant is any indication of what’s to come in the form of the Boeing 787s and the Boeing 747-800s – and I’m referring to the way the aircraft handles – boy, I can’t tell you how crazy I’d be to get my hands on either of ‘em. Being in this field, of course, comes with all the motivation in the world to indulge in all matters associated with the industry, especially safety-related ones. Isn’t it fantastic that we’re all so blessed with the likes of airliners.net (where you’d be spoilt for choice in terms of the photos you can search up on), and the wide range of websites you could go to for downloading of, say, aviation disaster videos, animation of such events, and even research pilot training issues; not just the all-popular private, commercial and airline pilot training-related resources, but also helicopter pilot jobs, helicopter pilot training, and even flight attendant school.
What I plan to do, really, is to bring together all the interesting resources to one location: to this WHEELS and WINGS blog. You won’t believe the amount of information, I envisage – and I’m decidedly committed to – bringing to this blog. Not only will you be able to look up street rods for sale here, but everything I talked about above will only be a click away.
You’ll love it, I promise – please bookmark me, guys.
Oh, and for the meantime, please don’t use the opt-in box on the top-right as I’m still learning how to set-up this website - bit by bit; incredibly time consuming!
